About me

As an experienced psychotherapist, I offer a ‘safe harbour’ where those requiring support -for whatever reason, and regardless of race, religion, sexual orientation and gender identification, may rest in a safe and secure space where they will be welcomed with respect, non-judgementally, compassionately and empathically.

I firmly believe in the connection between the psychological and the physiological -our bodies and minds are so intrinsically intertwined. For instance, our psychological anxieties may be experienced physiologically through physical symptoms such as headaches, nausea, palpitations, shaky legs and many more.

I also believe that the impact of our histories -our childhood experiences, affects the way that we live and relate to others. As unique individuals, we all, at some point, experience the pressures of life but may shy away from seeking support. By exploring our concerns, we come to discover them from different perspectives and so can begin to understand them better.

I can help you to discover your own solutions within a confidential and supportive therapeutic relationship. Asking for help takes tremendous courage but it is never a sign of weakness which is why I invite you to take those first steps on your therapeutic journey.

My therapeutic approach is primarily psychodynamic/psychoanalytical, but I may adopt a more integrative style according to the specific need of my client. The client’s well-being forms the foundation of my philosophy of practice, and, following an assessment it may be that I recommend alternative forms of support or offer a contract for a specific length of time or for longer term work.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
