About me
You may look as though you're coping on the outside, while inside you're feeling overwhelmed, anxious or stuck in patterns of overthinking from which you can’t switch off . Perhaps your mind is constantly busy, replaying situations, worrying about the future, or questioning your decisions and self-worth.
You might find it difficult to relax or feel settled in your own body, or notice that you put other people’s needs before your own while struggling to say no or set boundaries. Over time, this can leave you feeling emotionally exhausted, anxious, and as though you are never quite “good enough”.
For many people, these feelings are linked to earlier life experiences or relationships that have had a lasting impact. You may not always identify these experiences as “trauma”, but they can shape how safe you feel in the world, how you see yourself, and how you relate to others. Even when the past is behind you, the emotional effects can continue to show up as anxiety, self-doubt, low self-esteem or difficulty trusting yourself.
Anxiety can affect every area of life, including sleep, relationships, work, and physical wellbeing. It can create a cycle that feels difficult to break, where the more anxious you feel, the harder it becomes to feel calm or confident.
I offer a warm, supportive and non-judgemental space where you can talk freely about what is going on for you, at your own pace. You don’t need to have everything figured out before starting therapy.
I have particular experience supporting people who are struggling with anxiety, low self-esteem, relationship difficulties, and the emotional impact of challenging or unhealthy relationships, including domestic abuse. This work has given me a deep understanding of how difficult experiences can affect confidence, trust, boundaries, and a sense of self.
I work from a Person-Centred perspective, which means you are at the heart of everything we do together. Rather than giving advice or telling you what to do, I aim to provide a space where you feel heard, accepted and understood, so you can begin to make sense of your own experiences.
Counselling isn’t a quick fix, and it isn’t magic. It can feel like gentle, steady work over time.
I sometimes describe the process like this:
Counselling can feel a bit like a pond. On the surface, things may appear calm when you arrive, but underneath there can be a build-up of emotions, memories and experiences that haven’t yet been fully processed. In our sessions, we gently explore what is there. This can sometimes feel uncomfortable, but it also creates the opportunity for understanding and change. Between sessions, you may find yourself reflecting on what has come up, and over time, things can begin to feel clearer and lighter.
Many people feel nervous before their first session, especially if they are unsure what to expect. This is completely normal.
You don’t need to prepare what to say or have a clear idea of what you want to work on. We can begin wherever feels most comfortable for you. Sessions move at your pace, and we only explore what feels manageable.
My role is to support you in understanding your thoughts, feelings and patterns, so you can develop greater self-awareness, emotional clarity and a stronger sense of self.
Training, qualifications & experience
I have completed the nationally recognised 4 year Diploma in Counselling Studies, and I complete ongoing learning to continually improve my practice, including training on working with the inner child and on working with trauma. As well as working in private practice, I volunteer at a Women's Centre in Luton, offering counselling to women who have experienced domestic abuse.
Before becoming a counsellor, I worked in education for 21 years, working with teenagers. Coming into counselling as a second career means that I am able to bring those experiences with me into my counselling.
Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Further information
I work as a person-centred therapist, and your needs are at the heart of everything we do. We will work at your pace and in a way that is comfortable for you. You may want just a few sessions or longer open-ended therapy; we can work together to find what is best for you.
I have been through my share of life's tough moments and received support through some great counselling. So, I know just how important it is to find a counsellor who can make you feel safe enough to face those issues in your life. I love what I do and always feel gratitude for the impact it has on someone's life when they are ready to move on.
