About me

I have over 25 years of experience working in adult mental health services.  I am also a qualified counsellor.  I have a great deal of experience, knowledge and skills in working with adults who struggle with anxiety and depression and with individuals who have experienced trauma in their lives. As a counsellor I have specialised in helping those struggling with grief and loss.  I see my job is helping you through a difficult time in your life.  Providing you with the skills to understand why you feel the way you do and to make changes that will ultimately improve how you feel.

I have a particular interest in how our physical body is impacted by our mental health and how using somatic techniques such as breathing and movement the body can improve it.  If appropriate I can incorporate this into our sessions.

I would be delighted to chat with you to find out if I might be the counsellor for you. I provide a free 20 minute telephone call. Sessions are 1 hour long and are £50.   I can do face-to-face at a venue with parking, online or by telephone.  I tend to work Mon-Friday daytime but can provide evenings and weekends occasionally so worth contacting me.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
