About me

Are you experiencing anxiety or depression? Or maybe you’ve experienced bereavement, trauma or abuse (including adverse childhood experiences).

I am registered psychodynamic counsellor, covering Stirling, Alloa and Falkirk. I provide a safe, confidential and non-judgemental space to help you explore your emotions, past experiences and relationships and how they can impact your present life.

Difficult past experiences can erode our sense of self, leading to a life that is unfulfilled. Psychodynamic counselling explores unconscious and conscious processes to help you move forward in a more fulfilled way.

My approach aims to encourage self-awareness, understanding, meaning and reconnection.

I provide short-term and long-term private therapy to individuals.

I offer a no obligation 50-minute initial consultation, which will allow you to discuss your current situation. The fee for this consultation is £60, payable in advance of the session.

If you are interested in speaking to a qualified counsellor, please contact me via email, text, phone or the form provided.

Training, qualifications & experience

Qualifications:

  • PG Dip Psychodynamic Counselling, Robert Gordon University and Human Development Scotland
  • PhD Phenomenology and Creative Practice, University of Stirling
  • MLitt Film Theory and Practice, University of Stirling
  • BA (Hons) Film Practice, Northumbria University

My professional counselling experience includes working with third-sector voluntary organisations and secondary schools. I currently support individuals who have experienced childhood trauma and abuse, sexual abuse, domestic abuse, chronic anxiety, suicidal thoughts, bereavement and low self-esteem.

I have a background in the creative industries, specifically working in film and television. I have also worked as a teaching assistant while completing my doctorate in phenomenology and creative practice at the University of Stirling. Researching phenomenology, or the study of embodied experience, has been integral to my therapeutic training and practice.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
