About me

Hello, my name is Su and I am a qualified counsellor based in the heart of Liverpool City Centre. My therapy is called Person-Centred Counselling and what this means is that we will work together exploring your thoughts and feelings about yourself and how they can be connected to events in the past or the present. Through this exploration we can build the right environment for positive change, (whatever it is in your life that you want to work on).
It may be that you're not sure what needs to change or where to begin.
It could be that you feel 'I want to change my life'.
Through our exploration we can find the answers and you can positively change your life for the better.

I can work at your pace, with what you want to bring to sessions. You can safely talk about what you need to say, which may be something you have been holding on to for a long time.
I believe that it takes a lot of courage to take the first steps into counselling, whether you're having counselling for the first time or continuing the therapeutic journey after a break.

I am trained in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, (CBT), so can offer a short term set of sessions to work on a particular issue.

So about me,

I offer short-term and ongoing therapeutic support.

I always offer a free half an hour telephone conversation as a first step so you can get an idea of who I am and a feel for the type of work we can do together.

If you want to find out more please feel free to contact me via email or alternatively you can give me a call or text.

I will aim to respond to messages within 24 hours.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have been counselling for four years both in organisations and in my own practice, with experience in a whole range of different fields. I have worked within organisations that have supported people with lack of confidence, anxiety, depression, phobias, life threatening illness, sexual violence, drug and alcohol dependency, body image issues as well as relationship issues.

I have specialised in the last two years in supporting survivors of rape and sexual abuse. Through this I have worked with complex trauma including working with PTSD symptoms such as flashbacks and dissociation.

I offer talking therapy but can also facilitate creative sessions so that you can explore your life if you feel that talking about yourself is very hard for you at the moment. It is a gentle but powerful way to express yourself.

Member organisations

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy

BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.

Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.

All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy

Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Wheelchair user access

Wheelchair-accessible premises should have step-free access for wheelchair users and individuals who are unable to climb stairs. If a counsellor's premises aren't step-free, they may offer alternative services such as telephone/web-based appointments, home visits, or meeting clients in different location, so you can choose the option that suits you best.

You can contact the counsellor to discuss the options available.

Under the Equality Act 2010 service providers have a duty to make reasonable adjustments to ensure that individuals with disabilities can access their service. You can read more about reasonable adjustments to help you to access services on the CAB website.
