About me

Sometimes in life we can be in situations where we can’t see the wood for the trees, where we feel overwhelmed and uncertain about the direction that is right for us. Talking to someone who is not directly involved in your life can help provide clarity about a situation, support you to unravel feelings and where they come from, and find renewed purpose. Through my non-judgmental approach, we can explore how you make sense of your world, increase your self-awareness and discover the right path for you going forward.

I will work with you to develop a trusting relationship where you can feel safe to explore your emotions, feelings, fears and to express out loud what you may not be able to share with people close to you. The focus of our sessions will be on you and your needs.

I have a particular interest in working with people who are engaged in a process of recovery from substance misuse.

It is very important that you find the right counsellor for you and so I offer a free 20 minute session (by appointment) where we can discuss my approach and your hopes for counselling to see if these are a good fit

Training, qualifications & experience

I have experience of working with clients with a range of presenting issues including bereavement and loss, anxiety, depression, low self-confidence and self-esteem, life transitions, drug and alcohol addiction and recovery - for both the person misusing a substance and their family and friends.

I also work as a sessional counsellor for Mind.

My counselling qualifications are:

  • Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling
  • MBACP
  • Mental Health First Aider

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
