About me
You’re not broken. You may be struggling with anxiety, shame, addiction or a sense that something in your life isn’t working. Perhaps the same difficulties keep appearing in your relationships, or you find yourself withdrawing, seeking approval, losing your boundaries or feeling unable to trust.
Sometimes there is no obvious crisis, but a feeling of being stuck, not quite yourself, or uncertain about who you are and what you want.
I believe many of the ways we struggle began as ways of coping or protecting ourselves. Therapy isn't about fixing you, but becoming curious about these patterns, where they came from, what they have done for you and whether they still serve you now.
I’m a Gestalt therapist and work relationally, paying attention to what is happening for you in the present, your feelings, bodily sensations and the ways you relate to yourself and others. The relationship we develop is an important part of that work, offering somewhere you can begin to experience yourself and your relationships differently.
Over time, therapy can help you understand yourself more deeply, develop a more trusting relationship with yourself and meet your life with greater awareness and choice.
Training, qualifications & experience
I’m a qualified Gestalt therapist and Registered Member of the BACP. Alongside my Gestalt training, I’ve been a practising coach for ten years and have trained in gender psychology and group facilitation. I’m also a yoga teacher, with a strong belief in the importance of the body and self-regulation, and have completed further training in addiction and the addictive personality.
My professional training is also informed by lived experience. I have spent much of the last twenty years confronting addiction, anxiety, relationship difficulties and low self-esteem in my own life. Through this, I came to understand the ways I sabotaged myself and, at times, created chaos.
That experience deeply informs how I meet people in therapy—not as broken, but with an understanding that the ways we learn to cope are rooted in our history and may once have been essential to our survival.
Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
