About me

Hi, I'm Steve. Thanks for giving my profile a click!

How Can I Help You?
Every counsellor is different both in their personalities and their approach to counselling, and a big part of successful therapy comes down to how well you and your therapist “click.”

So here’s a bit about what working with me is like:

I'm a person-centred integrative counsellor, and I honestly believe that therapy works best when it fits you as an unique individual. That means not just adjusting the tools and techniques, but also adjusting the language and metaphors we will use in our sessions together.

I use something called an assimilative integrative approach which simply means I tailor our sessions to suit your needs, to help you make sense of your experiences in ways that feels the most natural to you.

If you're someone who connects with things such as books, games, video games, or shows the likes of Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, Dungeons & Dragons, Pokemon or any other kind of media or hobby. Then we can use those stories creatively to become part of your healing process.

Some examples of this could be:
"Do you feel like your wand didn't choose you?"
"Are you battling an inner gollum filling whispering words of self-doubt"
"Are you endlessly doing side quests because you feel underleveled for your main story?"

Whatever your thing is, we can use that to help create language and metaphors so that your therapy makes sense to you.

Who and What I Work With

I warmly welcome clients of all backgrounds, identities, and walks of life. Whatever your race, culture, gender identity, sexuality, religion, or relationship style, you will be met with acceptance, respect, and care. However at this time I only work with adults (18+).

I work on a wide range of general mental health issues, including but not limited to:

Low self-esteem and self-worth
Stress and burnout
Anxiety or persistent worry
Feeling stuck, lost, or directionless
Low mood and depression
Grief or loss (including non-death losses like divorce)
Relationship or family difficulties
Life transitions or changes
Lack of motivation or confidence
Loneliness or isolation

You don’t need a formal diagnosis or a clear label for what you’re going through, but if something doesn’t feel right, it’s completely valid to seek support.

Where and How I Work
I offer both in-person and online sessions:

In-person sessions take place in Dudley town centre.
Home visits are available within a 3-mile radius of the DY4 postcode (at a slightly higher fee).
Online sessions are available via secure video call.

Testimonials

"Steve is everything I wanted in an open, knowledgeable and reflective counsellor. All conversations were met with a deep listening and understanding that i've found rare in other counsellors over the years. I often find it hard to articulate my words, but steve offered a space of patience in allowing me time to open up, and sensitivity when raising thoughts. I also found him very intuitive on areas where deeper exploration would help heal me the most and I appreciated his careful approach to these areas. I couldn't recommend him more." - CM

" I have seen other counsellors in the past and not really gotten anything from it, but after being recommended to steve I got so much out of the sessions and my life started to change. I highly recommend him!" - SC

"Can't speak highly enough of steve. Really knows his stuff and he explains things clearly and makes it easy to understand. He's been great for me." - JE
