About me
People come to counselling for many reasons such as ongoing anxiety, low mood or depression, difficulties in relationships, unresolved family issues, or the impact of trauma and loss. Others seek support with stress, anger, low self-esteem, or the challenges that can come with neurodiversity, including ADHD and autism. Whatever brings you, my role is to offer a steady, thoughtful space where your experiences can be explored at your pace.
I offer both short- and long- term counselling to adults. Collaboratively, we will create a safe and non-judgemental space for you to explore your thoughts and feelings. We will work together to help you understand how you function in the world, build your sense of self-compassion and worth, and look at possible solutions to improve your life and relationships.
As an integrative therapist, my approach is tailored to the needs and circumstances of each individual. We may focus on immediate challenges, improve awareness of ongoing patterns of behaviour, and/or examine how your past impacts your present. We will work together to help you heal from difficult life experiences and set you up for the future you wish for.
Training, qualifications & experience
My training primarily integrates person-centred, existential and psychodynamic theories, though I draw on ideas and research from wider fields. The therapeutic relationship is at the heart of my practice. I am dedicated to my own continual learning and development and use both personal therapy and clinical supervision to support me in my work.
I am a qualified BACP Counsellor and am educated to Masters level in Psychotherapy. I am currently completing a one-year accreditation programme to fully qualify as a UKCP Psychotherapist. I adhere to both the BACP and UKCP codes of ethics.
I have experience supporting clients with stress, bereavement, anxiety, relationship difficulties, parenting, family estrangement, depression, low self-esteem, sexual and emotional trauma and neurodivergence diagnosis.
Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
