About us

South Downs Therapy Collective is a group of therapists offering thoughtful, relational therapy shaped around you. We are more than a directory. We take time to understand what you need, then help you find a therapist whose experience, personality and way of working feel like a good fit.

We work with adults who feel anxious, overwhelmed, burnt out or disconnected from themselves or others. You may be living with the impact of trauma, navigating neurodivergence, struggling in relationships, or simply know that something needs to change.

Each therapist in the collective works independently, with their own approach and way of working. What we offer is a careful start, a considered match and a professional community around the therapy. We also invite optional feedback at several points, creating space to reflect on how the fit feels and helping us improve the experience we offer and support you in finding the right therapist for you.

Training, qualifications & experience

Our qualified therapists have trained to degree level or equivalent, are registered with recognised professional bodies and hold appropriate professional insurance. They are selected not only for their qualifications and experience, but for the care, integrity and commitment they bring to their work and to the people they support.

Our lower-cost service may also include carefully selected late-stage trainee therapists, who practise within formal placement requirements and receive dedicated clinical supervision.

Member organisations *

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

We have verified that at least one professional at this organisation is registered with the relevant professional body.

Further information

You do not need to know which kind of therapy you need before contacting us. You can enquire with a particular therapist or use our Help Me Choose service. Tell us a little about what brings you to therapy and what matters to you in the person you work with, and we will consider who may be a thoughtful fit.

If the initial match does not feel right, you are welcome to tell us. We can help you consider another option without leaving you to begin the search again on your own.

Appointments are available in person in Eastbourne and online. Fees vary between therapists, and a limited number of lower-cost spaces are also available.
