About me

Hi, I’m Sophie, and I want to start by sharing that I know first-hand how daunting starting your counselling journey can be, as I have been in your shoes looking for the right counsellor myself.

Are you feeling overwhelmed, stressed, or constantly overthinking every little thing? Are you someone who never feels good enough? Do you struggle with setting boundaries, or feel anxious about what others think? - then you are in the right place!

I work with a range of different issues but my specialism is people pleasing behaviours & building self esteem.

Therapy with me is about creating a space where you can figure out how to show up for yourself, without guilt, fear or judgement.

My approach is warm and compassionate, with a gentle bit of "real-talk" when you need it. Therapy can feel hard at times, but, I will work alongside you to help you understand the things that hold you back or prevent you from living a happier way of life.

Together, we’ll unpack the stress, discover what you truly want, and build the confidence to honour it. You don’t have to navigate this alone!

I’m down-to-earth, warm and empathic. I have a passion for helping people to improve their mental well-being.  I see counselling as an investment we make in ourselves. Its a gift to yourself, in the form of self-care.

If you think I sound like someone you might like to work with, get in touch via email to arrange a free 25 minute consultation call.

Training, qualifications & experience

I trained as an integrative therapist, meaning I use different theories to tailor sessions to your individual needs. I put you at the centre of all of our work. The therapeutic relationship we build will be what underpins your therapeutic journey to a happier, more positive way of life.

I have worked with many different people supporting clients in a variety of settings such as the education and charity sectors. These people differ in age, cultural background, race, religion, sexual orientation, and gender. I have worked with varying degrees of emotional distress ranging from, but not limited to, anxiety, relationship issues, financial stress, anger, suicidal thoughts, bereavement, depression, and low self-esteem. As mentioned above, the trust and relationship we build together is what will help you to explore the difficulties you are experiencing.

I work with adults over the age of 18 and provide therapy both face to face and online via Zoom.

I offer a free initial consultation over the phone of up to 25 minutes. This gives you the chance to get a feel for how I provide therapy and gives you the autonomy to decide if I am the right counsellor for you.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
