About me
I bring over nineteen years of experience supporting children, young people and adults. I offer in‑person sessions from my dedicated therapeutic space in the North West, as well as flexible online or telephone appointments for anyone who prefers remote access.
As an accredited BACP member trained in both person centred counselling and CBT, I provide a safe space where you will be heard with compassion. I share knowledge and strategies where helpful, work with empathy, and tailor the therapeutic process to your individual needs.
I am now opening additional availability within my private practice, drawing on the full range of skills and expertise developed throughout my nineteen year career.
I offer a trusted, high quality service for a wide range of personal, work related and school based difficulties, including anxiety, depression, OCD, low self‑esteem, panic, self‑harm, bereavement and executive dysfunction. I have extensive experience in neurodiversity, particularly ADHD, and in working alongside the NHS, Occupational Health, children and young people, and their parents or carers.
Training, qualifications & experience
Whilst my training in the person‑centred approach underpins all my work, I am also a qualified CBT therapist. I began my career working with children as a primary school teacher and now support them as a therapist. Alongside my client work, I am a clinical supervisor and college lecturer, helping trainee counsellors achieve their first professional qualification.
I work with clients experiencing a wide range of personal, work related, stress and school based difficulties, using both person‑centred counselling and Cognitive Behaviour Therapy. In your first session, we will explore what has brought you or your child to counselling and identify the approach that best fits your needs. I can work solely within one modality or blend both to create a tailored, responsive therapeutic process.
Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
