Supporting adults children and families through Therapeutic Services and a therapeutic dog. Come because you want something to be different or change in some way.
Being anxious, down in the dumps, a picky eater, feeling sad, etc. are often ways we have found to cope with life - it's a type of relationship with between you, others and the world around you. Changing that relationship - thinking differently; recognising what we are feeling; taking different actions can make a big difference. I believe these changes are possible in all of us and that we are part of a social network.
Areas of work include depression, anxiety, addictive behaviours, those who are bullied and those doing the bullying; issues in eating and ADHD.
My practice is based on an approach called Transactional Analysis and I use it as a base for working with clients and Psychology as a framework for understanding. Approaching my work from a systemic perspective and using a variety of techniques alongside the use of games, toys and puppets to support and enhance the relationship and meet client need.
My service is predominantly mobile and thus I work work with clients in their own homes, schools, places of work as well as neutral environments such as the countryside.
Training, qualifications & experience
I trained as a psychotherapist in transactional analysis which for me is a way of understanding how we as people relate to other people and understand the world in which we live.
I have a degree in psychology which allows me to understand more of how and why we think, feel and behave in the way we do.
Also I have trained in a number of areas that help me work better and include approaches that support people to make decisions, understand themselves and others and make changes.
My experience is broad and I have worked in the NHS as a clinician and manager; in voluntary sector as a manager; in sales as a representative and manager which means I have worked with a range of people in many ways in different organisations. Thus I have a broad understanding of the process of thinking, feeling and behaving. Since 2001 I have been working independently.
Further I have worked and continue to work with children and young people, families, couples, adults and groups in areas including addictive behaviours, being bullied and tantrums, etc.
As I work with children and young people I am in regular personal therapy.
