About me

On many occasions we are able to deal with what life throws at us. But occasionally we come to a point when we need a bit more - a bit of help untangling what’s happening in order to move forward.

Over the last 10 years I've enjoyed working with people from different walks of life and diverse issues, including anxiety, stress, self-esteem, relationship issues, loss, conflict resolution or assisting towards personal or professional development.  I offer a safe, confidential space to work on a short or long-term basis. We can focus on exploring coping strategies with a particular issue, or explore your personal history to understand how this impacted or is still impacting your life.

My particular interest is in relationships and communication - how we relate to one another and ourselves. Many of our issues stem from relationships, past or current, and the one we have with ourselves.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am qualified in Transactional Analysis (TA) Counselling. TA provides many models which I frequently share with clients to deepen understanding of their personality, relationships and communication.

However the way I work has been influenced by other modalities over the years and I would use these at times according to client's needs.

I have also been running personal development courses over the pandemic which focused on different topics including coping with stress, anxiety and relationship issues. The courses are available for groups of 5 or more.  Please contact me for further details if these are of interest.

I enjoy dedicating time to professional development and I like to explore new research, ideas and theories which I integrate into my practice.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

COSCA
College of Sexual and Relationship Therapists (COSCA)

COSCA is the professional body for counselling and psychotherapy in Scotland, and seeks to advance all forms of counselling and psychotherapy and the use of counselling skills by promoting best practice and through the delivery of a range of sustainable services. COSCA Counsellor Accreditation is a pathway to entry onto the UKRC.

It is a requirement of all individual and organisational members of COSCA to abide by its Statement of Ethics and Code of Practice and be accountable to the Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
