During the current COVID-19 pandemic I am working in a separate building adjacent to my house and the room is more than large enough to social distance and keep well ventilated. I can also work online or on the telephone.
At this time in your life you maybe feeling flat, numb or confused, you maybe suffering from anxiety or be feeling overwhelmed or lost. We can all have episodes in our lives when we struggle to make sense of our feelings or moods.
I am a qualified counsellor and can offer you a safe space to be heard, to be understood and acknowledged. Using reflection I can help you find your own solutions and ways forward. Together we can press the 'pause' button and perhaps discover what changes you would like to make in your life or maybe you will choose to use the time to explore and unpick what is going on for you. Either way I will take direction from you, you are unique and only you truly knows what is best for you. I use empathy and a non-judgemental approach with a gentle challenge to aid your self-awareness.
I work in a relational way and believe that within the relationship lies the key to our understanding. When we begin to understand ourselves we can find compassion and contentment.
I work from home and offer a comfortable tranquil space in a private, quiet location in the countryside. My home is in a secluded location and has ample parking. It is easily accessible from Liss, Petersfield, Bordon, Liphook and surrounding areas.
Training, qualifications & experience
I have a foundation degree in humanistic counselling based on Transactional Analysis however, I also use CBT, Solution focused and mindfulness tools and techniques with my clients.
I am a member of the British Association of counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and I adhere to their code of ethics. I attend monthly supervision and regular training to enhance my practice.
Alongside my private practice, I offer counselling in a Family support service and I counsel in an agency that provides accommodation for homeless young people. I hold a current DBS certificate.
I have extensive experience working with clients who have physical disabilities, communication/speech problems and learning difficulties and I would welcome anyone with these issues. My counselling practice room is on the ground floor; wheelchair access can be organised. In special circumstances, I can visit you in your own home depending on the distance proximity.
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).
Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.
Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.
All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
Accredited Register Scheme
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
