About me
Hello and thank you for looking at my profile. I am a BACP accredited therapist with over 20 years experience. I offer a warm, safe, confidential and tranquil counselling room which helps to create the right environment in which we can work together.
Counselling and therapy
There may be a number of reasons that you may be looking for counselling. Life experiences impact on us in different ways; we are all unique and my approach reflects this. It may be that you are dealing with difficult current life events, or possibly that you are aware that you feel anxious or depressed at the moment and are not sure what is causing you to feel this way. My experience of working therapeutically over many years allows me to offer you a variety of techniques in a client centred way. This means I am interested, compassionate and believe that by working together, we can create a space that allows you to explore whatever it is that you are finding painful or difficult, and ultimately to gain insight into the areas of your life that you may want to alter or develop.
I have extensive experience of working with many personal issues and those that are affecting your relationships. I also have significant experience of working with bereavement, loss and grief. This includes pre loss (when a family member has a life limiting illness) or when a family member or someone close to you has passed away. This includes couples when a child has passed away.
Counselling for Children and Young People
I have worked in a range of settings working with children and young people for over 15 years. I use a range of techniques including talking, play and art that is appropriate to the child's age as way to help them express themselves. This is tailored for each individual child or young person. Sometimes you may be seeking counselling for a child or young person following a specific life experience such as a parental separation or a bereavement. At other times it may not be such an obvious link but you have noticed a change in behaviour for example, whether that's anxiety, depression, self harm, anger.
The number of sessions required will depend on the impact the issue is having in your life. I offer both short term and open ended counselling and this would be discussed as part of the initial appointment.
Supervision
For the past 10 years I have been a qualified supervisor. I provide clinical supervision on a 1:1 or group basis for individual counsellors and therapists both qualified and in training.
I offer supervision to organisations either as a one-off or on a regular basis.
Training
I am an experienced trainer having written and delivered training across the UK on a number of subjects relating to children's mental health and well being, and on topics relating to bereavement and the impact of grief.

school Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
