Shabnam Khan Counselling

Birmingham, West Midlands, B11

About me

I work in a person centred way this is a humanistic approach offering empathy, unconditional positive regard and understanding. I work in a non judgemental way and will always be upfront with any limitations I may have. The aim will always be to provide a safe and confidential space for you to share your feelings to enable growth, self-worth and awareness. It may feel daunting initially to open up to a complete stranger but remember you don’t have to share anything unless you’re happy with your therapist and you feel safe enough with them. Anxiety affects a lot of people and picking up the phone can also make a person anxious. Send me a message and I shall be happy to answer any queries and explain a bit more about how I work.

Training, qualifications & experience

Graduated from the University of Warwick with a person centred degree in counselling and psychotherapy which is an accredited course, currently completing my accreditation. Have worked as a counsellor for over 11 years at Open Door contracted by Forward Thinking Birmingham. I also am currently providing counselling at King Edwards High School and Heartlands Academy. I work with clients of all ages with varied issues and problems and from different backgrounds. I also work with women and children who have suffered domestic violence through an organisation. I work with clients of all ages and have worked with widely varied issues. I also offer play therapy for children.

Member organisations

BACP

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy

BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.

Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.

All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
