About me

I work in a person centred way, this is a humanistic approach offering empathy, unconditional positive regard and understanding. I am non judgemental and will always be upfront with any limitations I may have. The aim will always be to provide a safe and confidential space for you to share your feelings to enable growth, self-worth and awareness. It may feel daunting initially to open up to a complete stranger but remember you don’t have to share anything unless you’re happy with your therapist and you feel safe enough with them. We can have a consultation before you make a decision. Anxiety affects a lot of people and picking up the phone can also make a person anxious; you can send me a message and I will be happy to answer any queries and explain a bit more about how I work.

Training, qualifications & experience

Graduated from the University of Warwick with a person centred degree in counselling and psychotherapy which is an accredited course, currently completing my accreditation. Have worked as a counsellor for over 13 years at Open Door contracted by Forward Thinking Birmingham. I currently provide counselling at both King Edwards High School and Heartlands Academy. I also work with an organisation in order to provide counselling and therapy to women and children who have suffered from domestic violence. I work with clients of all ages and from different backgrounds, I have worked with widely varied issues and problems. I also offer play therapy for children. Send me an email and I shall be happy to assist you.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
