About me

Hi I am Scott and I am an experienced counsellor and can provide appointments through face to face, telephone and online. I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and follow their Ethical Framework.

You have taken a huge step on dealing with the challenges you are facing by seeking counselling. I understand that this can be daunting so it’s important that you find someone that you feel you can work with and can trust. I offer a safe and confidential space where you can explore the issues you want to face without judgment. I won’t be here to fix you but I can walk with in your journey while you explore your thoughts and feelings and find the new paths you want to go on.

I have experience working with clients with alcohol and gambling addictions, I also work with clients dealing with depression, anxiety, bereavement, work stress and many other problems that people have to face.

I can currently offer clients that are affected by gambling as well as their loved ones free help and support through advice and or counselling as required. These would initially be 6 to 12 sessions depending on the needs you have.

I also have a keen interest in working with parents that are coping with the stresses of raising kids with additional needs. This comes from my own experience of being a parent of a child with ASD and I am aware support is limited for parents in dealing with the impacts it can have on you or the wider family.

I work with teenagers and young people who have either an ASD diagnosis or are going through the process of waiting for a diagnosis. Teenage years can already be a struggle but being neurodiverse can add additional struggles in the mix. Therapy aims us to reduce stigma and can benefit children's thinking and learning differences that will help them going forward.

Please feel free to contact me by phone or email and we can arrange an initial telephone consultation before you decide if you want to arrange an appointment.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
