About me
Thank you for entering the Counselling Directory and welcome to my profile -
I am sure that there may be specific reasons why you have arrived at my page and perhaps there is one aspect in your life's journey, which may stand out above others, and may still having have an impact on your life today.
In this case, have you ever wondered why you may feel anxious in relationships, or possibly struggle to open up about yourself with others - It may be through a deeper comprehension of your own specific attachment style which may bring you clarity and go a long way in understanding the impact of your early relationships with those who were your caregivers, and enable you to reveal, to yourself, the impact on your experiences in both love and friendship.
I am an Integrative Therapist with my main areas of expertise in Psychological Trauma and PTSD, and Attachment Theory, however for me, it is always a privilege to identify together with you, the right level of support, whether you are facing life challenges such as Relationships; Anxiety and Depression; Stress; Bereavement & Loss; Anger; and Phobias. In my career I have supported many clients who have felt traumatised and unable to see the way forward, but who have managed to work through their issues with the appropriate supporting therapy. Choosing the right therapy or therapies will be the most important way in which we will be able to build our relationship and to help you in dealing with your unique situation, and I hope that should we decide to work together we will achieve a positive result.
Therapy sessions can be arranged on an open-ended basis or for an agreed time period and are usually for fifty minutes. Charges range from £65.00/£85.00 per session for a single client and £85.00/£95.00 for couples. I offer daytime or evening sessions from Monday through Friday, Saturday mornings till 1pm, however there will be a 15% uplift on the agreed week-day fee.
Please feel free to visit my website innerselfcounselling.com or contact me by telephone (07789 502 105) or email (sasben@msn.com) to discuss your particular situation in more detail. All contact is treated confidentially. Also, I am also trained to work with minors, providing a parent or guardian, gives written consent.
My practice is based in Lower Earley, within easy reach of Reading, Woodley, Earley, Winnersh, Shinfield, Aborfield and Wokingham. Parking is available and Reading Buses route 21 will bring you almost to my door.

Member organisations
school Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
The National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society This Not For Profit association of counsellors and psychotherapists aim to support the counselling profession, members and training organisations. In 2013 the NCS register was accredited by the Professional Standards Authority under the Accredited Voluntary Register Scheme. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
