About me
I am an HCPC registered Clinical Psychologist and Equine Facilitated Psychotherapist. EFP is a unique therapeutic approach that incorporates horses into the therapy process. It's a collaborative experience between a therapist, a horse, and the client, designed to promote emotional growth and healing through interactions with horses.
Clients who have tried traditional talking therapy and felt stuck may benefit from equine facilitated psychotherapy that allows for somatic and emotional awareness beyond the spoken word. A range of experiences can be explored such as anxiety, low mood, trauma, self-esteem, burnout, identity and neurodivergence. Clients will experience the relationally safe and non judgmental nature of horses. Horses simply respond to the person that is in front of them. Their ability to communicate via energy and nonverbal cues makes them wonderful at mirroring inner emotional states. Building trust and connection are at the forefront of EFP.
Sitting down face to face with a therapist can feel daunting. As an outdoor therapy, EFP brings a sense of freedom through movement and being immersed in nature. It can be wonderful to experience the development of a partnership between you and a horse, and feel their soothing and grounding presence. EFP is experiential and promotes in the moment healing.
