About me
There are many reasons for seeking out counselling or support, usually underpinned by a need to experience life better.
Maybe you have experienced a life changing event or are processing the loss of someone or something very important to you. It could be that you want to work with aspects of your past or anticipate a change coming in your future that you want to be fully prepared for.
Sometimes people need support for something less tangible, possibly a sense that something isn't quite right with the way they are experiencing life. This might show as low mood or anxiety, but can also be around struggling with difficult decisions or the way that the relationships around them don't seem to quite make sense.
It may be that you are seeking couples therapy for difficulties in your relationship or have a wish to deepen and strengthen your relationship by seeking support before problems develop.
I am experienced in providing both individuals and couples therapy over both the short and long term. I aim to find therapies that work for you by addressing the reasons that you seek help. I will work closely in line with your goals, using these to guide the therapy process. Quite often this is unclear and if that is the case for you I will work with you to unpick the complexities of whatever circumstances you bring, to help you gain clarity and help you move forward in your life again.
You may be looking for help specifically with anxiety and panic, low mood or depression, grief and loss, relationship issues, work based issues, traumatic events or life circumstances from your recent or distant past, fertility problems or childlessness, feeling overwhelmed or not coping, managing illness in yourself or someone close to you or you maybe you are a survivor of sexual abuse and rape. I have particular training and experience in all of these areas of work.
The therapies that I work with include: Person Centred Theory; Attachment Theory; Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT); Compassionate Focussed Therapy; Body Psychotherapy for Trauma; Mindfulness; Couples and Relationship training - including neurodiversity and its impact on relationships. I have also recently had Polyvagal theory and Internal Family Systems Training.
I am an Integrative Counsellor which means that I work with a broad set of tools and techniques that I bring to the relationship with my clients rather than following one theoretical standpoint. I am trained to an MSc level in Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy and have a background as a physiotherapist and in human science, so am committed to working with theories and tools that have a strong evidence base. I have been a therapist for ten years, but I have a background in commercial, health and academic sectors too.
I offer face to face sessions out of my office in the New Forest and online therapy via video call. I no longer have practice rooms in the Loughborough area but continue to see many clients from this area of the country via video and audio call.

Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
