About me
Have you spent so long putting others first, meeting expectations or getting on with things that you've lost touch with yourself? You might appear to be coping on the outside, while underneath feeling overwhelmed, unsure of yourself or disconnected from what you need.
Perhaps you're struggling with self-worth or confidence, finding it hard to be kind to yourself, navigating relationship difficulties, loss or life changes, or simply feeling that something isn't quite right. You might find yourself people-pleasing, questioning yourself or struggling to set healthy boundaries.
I offer warm, down-to-earth, person-centred counselling, working at your pace and in a way that feels right for you. Alongside talking, we can explore creative approaches using images, cards, drawing, writing or sand tray work. Sometimes, getting your hands in the sand or working with images can help you explore feelings and experiences that are difficult to put into words. You don't need to be artistic or have the right words.
I believe there can be hope, even when life feels difficult or confusing. Taking time to explore your experiences, understand yourself better and reconnect with what matters to you can help you find a way forward that feels right for you.
I often work with clients who:
- Put everyone else first
- Struggle to set healthy boundaries
- Experience stress or burnout
- Struggle with confidence or self-worth
- Feel they've lost a sense of themselves
- Are navigating grief or life transitions
If you recognise yourself in any of this, you don't need to have everything figured out before reaching out. We can start wherever you are.
Training, qualifications & experience
I am a qualified Level 4 counsellor and a registered member of the BACP. My approach is person-centred and integrative, drawing on Gestalt, CBT and psychodynamic perspectives where helpful.
My previous experience in education, working with children, young people and families, including those with additional needs, has shaped my understanding of the importance of feeling heard, understood and accepted. I am also a Mental Health First Aider and committed to ongoing professional development.
Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
