About me
With over 14 years counselling experience working as a child and adolescent therapist, I offer safe and non judgemental therapeutic support to children, adolescents, and young adults between the ages of 4 and 25.
My practice is based in Central Winchester, a short walk from the train station. I offer in-person, face-to-face counselling sessions and online therapy sessions on Zoom. Depending on your needs and what you are looking for, I am able to offer either short or long-term counselling support. I am also able to offer therapeutic support to parents and families.
My practice is informed by person-centred, attachment and transpersonal theory, and I believe that the quality of the therapeutic relationship has a significant impact on the therapeutic outcome. I adapt the support that I offer to individual clients needs, and offer creative and reflective counselling sessions, incorporating solution focused approaches into my work as required. I gently encourage my clients to explore the difficulties that they are facing, working together towards positive change.
Training, qualifications & experience
I have an MA in Child, Adolescent and Family Psychotherapy, a Post Graduate Diploma in Counselling Children in Schools, and a Diploma in Sandplay therapy. To ensure that my practice remains up to date, I undertake regular continuing professional development training courses.
I am experienced at working in primary and secondary schools, agencies and in private practice supporting young people from ages 4 to 25.
I am also qualified as a Level 6 Supervisor, supporting other therapists in their counselling work.
Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
