About me

I am a qualified Integrative Child and Adolescent Counsellor offering face-to-face, outdoor sessions in a South London park setting. I work with children, adolescents and young adults from 11 years old upwards. I am experienced in supporting young people with a wide variety of emotional issues including anxiety, low mood, neurodiversity, parental separation, domestic violence, and school refusal.

There is a growing body of research which evidences that exposure and connection with Nature can have tangible benefits for all, and particularly in a variety of wellbeing outcomes in adolescence including self esteem & confidence, stress reduction, social benefits and resilience. Having counselling sessions outdoors can also be an alternative to traditional room-based therapy spaces which can be intimidating for some; being alongside your counsellor, not having to make eye contact, having the freedom and space to move and cover ground, and welcoming the wisdom that Nature offers us can contribute to an environment that is rich with therapeutic potential.

I strongly believe that the forming of a relationship with Nature can be a lifelong companion and source of limitless support. The opportunity to reveal this freely available and accessible resource will be an intrinsic part of my work.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have thirty years’ experience of working with children, young people and their families in a variety of settings including education, social care and residential settings.

My training began with an MA(Ed) in Guidance and Counselling Skills from Brunel University (2000) which focused on a Person-Centred approach. I have a Post Graduate Diploma in Systemic Practice from the Institute of Family Therapy (2007). I completed my Diploma in Child Counselling training (2018) at the Institute for Arts in Therapy and Education (IATE), where the therapeutic application of all the Arts are central to the work. I recently completed the certificate in Nature Allied Psychotherapy with the Nature Therapy School (2024).

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
