About me
Hello, welcome to my profile. My name is Bonnie and I am a Psychodynamic Counsellor working with adults and young people. I offer short term counselling and long term, open ended therapy. Short term counselling can be beneficial for those who wish to deal with a specific issue such as anxiety, or a recent bereavement. Long term therapy is useful for those who wish to work deeper, perhaps with issues they have been living with for most of their lives, or for the purpose of self development. Often people find themselves in repeated situations where they are emotionally compromised. Working deeper allows exploration of why this is so, and works towards finding a way to bring change to habitual behaviour which may be detrimental or which may prevent growth, both emotionally and/or psychologically. It may also be that one simply needs someone to talk to, who will listen emphatically and without judgement.

Counselling Young People
One of the areas I specialise in is working with young people from age 11 and upwards.
Working with young people has allowed me to understand the many challenges that they face in these current times. Many issues can be overwhelming for the younger client, and for their parents, close family and friends. Often it is extremely difficult for a young person to express what they are feeling or to understand why they feel the way that they do and families don't always know where to turn. Knowing that a young person has an empathic listener in a safe and confidential environment to help them through difficult times is a great comfort and support, moreover for the clients themselves.
Some of the areas that I work with:
Anxiety
Bullying, face to face and/or cyber
Body dismorphia

Member organisations

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
