About me

My practice has been adapted to be fully Covid 19 compliant. I have a limited number of face to face appointments from my practice in Ashton Under Lyne.

I have many years' experience of offering therapy  face to face, via telephone or video.

Life can be challenging and problematic.

Do you feel like you are battling through a storm and don’t know which direction to take?

Leaning on friends and family in times of need can leave us feeling like a burden.

Calm Harbour offers you a different and experienced perspective around the concerns you have.

I offer you a safe, confidential and non-judgemental space.

I am experienced in working with a number of issues, including:

  •     Depression
  •     Addiction
  •     Bereavement
  •     Anger Management
  •     Redundancy
  •     Sexual issues
  •     P.T.S.D. (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder)
  •     Sexual Dysfunction
  •     Domestic Violence
  •     Relationship Problems
  •     Sexual Abuse
  •     Loss
  •     Anger management

I am a registered member of the British Association for Counsellors and Psychotherapists and I am trained as an integrative counsellor which means I have studied a number of counselling models which in turn, enables me to use my skills to best meet your needs.

As part of the ethical approach to my practice, I regularly undergo supervision in line with the recommendations made by the BACP and I am committed to my own personal development and frequently attend continuing professional development training.

A client has given me his permission to share the following feedback:
"When I started my counselling sessions I was quite unsure of the process or indeed, whether I would benefit from it in any way. Within a few weeks Sam and I had built a solid understanding and were able to not only identify but also challenge and begin to overcome, some quite negative behaviours that I had been doing for a number of years. Whilst I found the sessions somewhat difficult and challenging at times, I feel that I am finally in a position where I am able to not only understand myself better, but I can actually adapt and overcome where previously I may have simply buried my head in the sand. I am now able to confidently avoid previous negative “go to” behaviours. I am happier, more content and more positive than I have been in years. I cannot recommend Calm Harbour Counselling enough."

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
