About me

Our difficulties can leave us feeling lost, unheard and confused. My approach is not to tell you what you should or shouldn't do but rather to think with you and support you as we explore your feelings and experiences of what ever may be difficult for you. My approach is psychodynamic at its core, which is an approach that aims to link early experiences and relationships with current behaviour, situations and relationships.  However I recognise that for some of us simply talking isn't always as easy as it sounds and I am very willing to use other modalities and creative therapies (e.g sand tray therapy) to enable you to heal and recover.

We all have an inner voice that needs to be heard, nurtured and encouraged and I will offer you a safe, non-judgmental and confidential space in which to express that inner voice.

I am a BACP Accredited counselling psychotherapist and supervisor with over 15 years experience working privately with adults in Berkhamsted, Hertfordshire.    I have worked in the NHS, charitable and corporate sectors and am approved by several insurance companies (please see my website for further details).

Our work together will be one to one and either open-ended or short term depending on your need. Our initial session will give you the chance to tell me your story and enable me to ensure that my approach will be the best one for you.  Thereafter we will meet weekly at a mutually convenient time and these sessions will each last 50 minutes.

I am also a founding member of the Berkhamsted Counselling Practice which brings together counsellors from differing modalities and can offer therapy services to adolescents, teenagers, young adults and adults.  Please see visit www.berkhamstedcounsellingpractice.co.uk for more details.

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
