About me

As a Person Centred trained Therapeutic Counsellor, I am committed to empowering others by providing an empathic and non-judgmental relationship and environment, respecting that we are each experts of ourselves, with the intention to raise the individual’s self-awareness and autonomy. Ultimately, helping them have greater control over their own world and in making their own decisions. Sessions can take place in the counselling room or Eco-therapy style, Walk and Talk as I believe the natural environment can support our healing and growth. We might also use creative triggers, such as mood cards, to help open up conversation and exploration.

I am based in NE Wales, near Mold and very fortunate to work from home or Outside Lives, an organisation that works with the community in promoting wellbeing for all. From either venue, we have options to stay and talk there, sit outside or talk as we walk in this designated ‘Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty’ - 'shoulder to shoulder' works better for some than 'face to face'.

I offer a no-fee introduction session of 30 mins either over the phone, zoom or face to face, to help you decide if counselling, or myself as a counsellor, are what you are looking for.  Please contact me with a voice mail, text or email, with contact details and I will get back to you.

Training, qualifications & experience

BACP registered Counsellor, qualified in Person-Centred Therapeutic Counselling and have worked with Adults and Young People since 1992, within a variety of settings. I have a BA (Hons) in Childhood & Youth Studies. I have experience of working with loss, grief, anxiety, males and their emotions, abuse, bullying and many other issues but generally, I believe that Counselling can be helpful to many of us at some point in our lives to make sense of our world, empower us, support us in dealing with our challenges, be happier within ourselves and to be the best we can be.

I have recently trained and been approved in 'The Rewind' technique, a technique effectively used in the treatment for involuntary recall.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
