About me

I offer a warm, non-judgemental space to explore your thoughts, feelings and experiences. You may be feeling overwhelmed, or finding that familiar ways of thinking, feeling or reacting are holding you back from living the life you want.

Whether you need someone to listen during a difficult time or want to understand and change recurring patterns, we can explore what lies behind your struggles together. My aim is to help you make sense of your experiences, develop a kinder relationship with yourself and make changes that feel meaningful to you.

I specialise in bereavement, domestic violence, anxiety, trauma and depression. Whatever brings you to counselling, we will work at your pace, with compassion and curiosity about what matters to you.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am an integrative therapist, meaning I have been trained in different types of therapy allowing me to tailor an approach specifically for you. I have been trained in the following therapies:

Person-centred - this therapy focuses on creating a safe, non-judgemental environment that prioritises the client's thoughts and feelings, meaning the therapy will always be led by you. You are the best expert on what needs to be at the centre of your therapy.

Attachment therapy - this looks at how childhood experiences have influenced our values and relationship patterns. Understanding the 'rules' we were taught in childhood is often key to making positive changes to the way we think, feel and behave.

Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (CBT) - Focuses on changing thought patterns in the here and now, without focusing on childhood, by looking at your negative thoughts and exploring ways to change them into more positive, realistic and thoughts

Compassion-Focused Therapy - Exploring self-compassion in a way that allows the client to see their past experiences through a more compassionate lens, allowing the client to navigate issues such as self-esteem, shame and guilt

Schema Therapy - A therapy used to look at deeply held thought patterns, explore their validity and how they affect your mental health

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
