About me
I am a UKCP-accredited psychotherapist and EMDR therapist, offering EMDR in a calm, confidential and thoughtful space for you to explore and work through experiences that may still be affecting you.
Psychotherapy can help you if you are suffering from emotional and psychological distress and issues such as panic attacks and anxiety, depression, problems at work and relationship issues as well as anger, fear, sadness, guilt and shame, bereavement and low self-esteem.
When you are going through this, a confidential relationship with a psychotherapist can make a big difference to your life as I offer you a safe place to explore.
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing) is a well-established therapeutic approach that helps the mind process and integrate distressing experiences, so they become less intrusive and easier to live with. For this type of work, therapy is often focused and contained, with regular opportunities to review progress together.
After an accident, traumatic or distressing experience, it’s not unusual for the mind and body to continue reacting as if the event is still present.
It is common for the mind and body to begin processing trauma naturally in the first few weeks. If symptoms persist beyond a month, or feel severe at any stage, seeking EMDR or another trauma-focused therapy can be an important next step.
You might notice:
Re-experiencing the event
- Intrusive memories or images that come unexpectedly
- Flashbacks, where it feels as though the event is happening again
- Distressing dreams related to the experience
Heightened anxiety or alertness
- Feeling on edge or easily startled
- Difficulty relaxing or switching off
- Irritability or feeling constantly “keyed up”
- Trouble sleeping
Avoidance
- Avoiding places, situations, or activities that remind you of what happened
- Trying not to think or talk about the event
- Withdrawing from usual routines
Emotional and physical responses
- Anxiety or panic, sometimes without an obvious trigger
- Feeling tearful, low, or emotionally overwhelmed
- A sense of numbness or disconnection
- Physical symptoms such as tension, fatigue, or a racing heart
Changes in how you feel about yourself or the world
- Loss of confidence
- Feeling less safe than before
- A sense that things are not quite the same as they were
A reassuring note
These responses are common after a traumatic or distressing event. For some people they settle naturally over time, but for others they can persist and begin to affect daily life.
Therapies such as EMDR are specifically designed to help the mind process these experiences so they no longer feel as intrusive or overwhelming.
When you phone or email me, I will get back to you and arrange for you to come and see me.
We will have an hour's introductory session which will cost £60. After that, you can decide if you want to have further appointments. Further sessions are weekly and cost £60 for an hour of psychotherapy, EMDR or supervision.

Member organisations
school Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
The UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) is a leading professional body for the education, training and regulation of psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors. Its register is accredited by the government's Professional Standards Authority.
As part of its commitment to protect the public, it works to improve access to psychotherapy, to support and disseminate research, to improve standards and to respond effectively to complaints against its members.
UKCP standards cover the range of different psychotherapies. Registration is obtained by training or accrediting with one of its member organisations, or by holding a European Certificate in Psychotherapy. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
