About me
Crossing the threshold and choosing to have therapy is not always easy. It may evoke many different feelings and thoughts; there may be part of you that believes you should be able to work things out on your own. However, at times it can be helpful to have support and a reflective space to explore and talk confidentially about what is troubling you.
Before committing to therapy, whether this is for a short term or longer period, I will invite you to an initial 50 minute consultation. This will be an opportunity to explore what brings you to therapy, to discuss any questions or concerns you may have and to consider whether we can work together.
If we agree to work together, sessions will be once weekly and at the same time each week, lasting 50 minutes. I offer short-term and on-going therapy which is regularly reviewed.
I currently have availability for those seeking in-person psychotherapy in central Cardiff.
My approach:
You will have a supportive, confidential and boundaried space. I will listen and give you time to talk through and explore what is weighing on your mind.
I work from a psychodynamic perspective. This approach can be helpful for those seeking to deepen their understanding of themselves, their relationships and build more robust resources.
Therapy is often a gradual and unravelling process. Change begins to emerge as you make different choices, develop your resources and find your own way of moving forward to create positive shifts in your life and relationships.
My background:
I have been working therapeutically for close to twenty-five years, initially as a Music Therapist (HCPC registered) and in more recent years, having completed further training in group analytic psychotherapy, I now practice as a Psychotherapist/Group Analyst.
I have worked within NHS adult/older adult mental health and adult learning disability services, hospice care and education, providing individual and group therapy.
I now work independently in central Cardiff.

school Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
The UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) is a leading professional body for the education, training and regulation of psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors. Its register is accredited by the government's Professional Standards Authority.
As part of its commitment to protect the public, it works to improve access to psychotherapy, to support and disseminate research, to improve standards and to respond effectively to complaints against its members.
UKCP standards cover the range of different psychotherapies. Registration is obtained by training or accrediting with one of its member organisations, or by holding a European Certificate in Psychotherapy. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
