Counsellor/Psychotherapist. MSc (distinction), MBACP (Reg)

About me

If you are considering counselling for the first time or looking to return to sessions, my aim is always to offer a calm, supportive space for you to explore any issues you are facing.

You may be ready to tackle these issues, or perhaps you’re apprehensive, confused or overwhelmed by the feelings you have. Either way, by reaching out you have already taken a brave and positive first step.

What can I expect from counselling?

My approach is person centred, which means my role is to help you gain a greater understanding of your experiences and how they may be impacting you. I won’t tell you what to do, but instead will listen and give you the space to talk openly, without fear of judgement.

What type of issues do you work with?

I welcome a broad range of adult clients, facing a wide range of issues. These include low mood and depression; anxiety and stress; bereavement; identity issues; relationships; low self-esteem; work related issues.

Where would we meet?

We can talk together face-to-face, online (video), or on the phone. Face-to-face sessions are at a private counselling centre in Didsbury, South Manchester. Online sessions are via Zoom and clients from across the UK are welcome. Please do contact me for up to date availability on both face-to-face and remote sessions.

How can I decide if you are the right counsellor for me?

Finding the right counsellor to suit your needs is really important. To help you make that decision, I can offer a free 20 minute phone consultation. You can tell me what you are hoping to gain from counselling and I can answer any questions you may have and check that the way I work will be appropriate for you.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
