(MBACP) Diploma Person Centred and CBT Therapist
Liverpool, Merseyside, L14

About me

Thank you for taking the time to read my profile. I’m Rob. I'm a BACP accredited person centred and CBT therapist. I currently have 8 years post qualified experience and 40.000 client hours. I currently work with in a rehabilitation treatment centre supporting clients PTSD and complex trauma addiction, depression, anxiety and low-self esteem. I also work as a family and I am a relationship therapist for Family Action working alongside struggling families.

Is Therapy for you?

Do you want to live, enjoy and appreciate your life more fully? Feel more at ease and with a greater purpose? Are there obstacles, poor life choices, self sabotaging behaviours and addictions you want to overcome? Do you feel like something is missing in your life? Do you try to fill the emptiness with materialistic things and relationships just to find yourself still feeling discontent with life? Would you like more satisfying connections and relationships with yourself and your partner, friends and family?

What is Therapy?

Therapy will offer you an opportunity to explore your concerns in a safe environment of trust and understanding. I am a qualified therapist with the right training and experience to have the space and time for you, so that you can explore and resolve your struggles and I can help you find your own answers. This process helps you understand yourself better and helps you identify with your patterns, and the reasons you feel and act the way that you do.

I've struggled too

I am a genuine honest man, who has also struggled with my own mental health and addiction problems in the past. This created poor self-esteem and low self worth. Taking the first step and reaching out was difficult, but it changed my life for the better. Without counselling, I would have remained trapped in anxiety and depression. Personal self development helped me explore my thinking and gave me an opportunity to change and grow into a more positive and happier person.

I am humbled to work with clients that allow me to walk alongside them and trust with their vulnerability, so that I can assist them on their journey of recovery to a better self.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am a qualified Person-Centred and CBT and IEMT Therapist and a registered member of The British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy. I often use a collaborative approach working with clients.

Person centred therapy is based on the view that everyone has the capacity and desire for personal growth and change, given the right conditions. I offer unconditional positive regard, empathy and genuineness to help you come to terms with any negative feelings to change and develop in your own way.

The CBT approach which is based on the concept that your thoughts, feelings, physical sensations and actions are interconnected, and that negative thoughts and feelings can trap you in a vicious cycle. CBT aims to help you deal with overwhelming problems in a more positive way by breaking them down into smaller parts.

Integral eye movement therapy (IEMT) is a type of psychotherapy that uses to assist clients in processing and releasing emotional trauma, unpleasant emotions, and firmly held beliefs. It is an innovative approach in the field of psychological therapies that draws on both the principles of eye movement desensitisation and reprocessing (EMDR) and the concept of cognitive restructuring.

I have over 20 years experience in a broad range of settings, working with client groups, adults, teenagers, families and couples. I have specialised skills in alcohol and substance misuse, working with anxiety, depression, PTSD, and complex trauma, sexual abuse, relationships breakdowns, sexuality issues and bereavement.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
