About us

Are you tired of always putting others first?

Maybe you’re exhausted from being the peacekeeper and holding everything together for others?

Or perhaps always taking care of everyone else's needs has left you feeling out of touch with your own, you now feel overwhelmed, anxious, stuck and disconnected from yourself.

If that sounds familiar, you’re not the only one—and it doesn’t have to stay this way.

The good news? Change is possible.

Hi, I’m Rita Charalambides, and I spent years putting others first.

As a lifelong people pleaser and shape-shifting peacekeeper, I was constantly adapting to keep everyone else comfortable.  So I know firsthand how easy it is to lose yourself in the needs of others.

My curiosity with relationships - and why we lose ourselves in them - led me to study Psychology and train as a counsellor and psychotherapist.

Now as a therapist, I help other people pleasers to start recognising their own needs again and realise that getting those needs met not only isn’t selfish, it’s human.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am a qualified counsellor and currently in my final year at the Institute of Psychosynthesis working towards my Psychotherapy Diploma.

I bring both professional expertise and lived experience to my practice - supporting you to better understand yourself, your patterns and the parts of you that are ready for change.

I have a background in Psychology with a Master's in Applied Psychology.

I am a member of the UKCP and the BACP as well as the Association of Psychospiritual Practitioners (APP).

I adhere to their professional codes of ethics, and my practice is supported by regular clinical supervision to ensure the highest standards of care.

Member organisations *

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

We have verified that at least one professional at this organisation is registered with the relevant professional body.
