About me
I am a fully qualified and registered psychotherapist and clinical supervisor with substantial experience of working with adults and children over 16 on a one to one basis. I work from a peaceful and private consultation room in Farnham and have daytime and evening availability for appointments. An initial 20 minute telephone consultation is free of charge to see whether you would like to work together.
You may be seeking counselling/psychotherapy for many reasons: life can feel overwhelming due to a specific trauma, or an on-going sense of inner tension/unease that is hard to explain or understand. Perhaps you have developed a set of coping mechanisms, to deal with your inner pain - and these mechanisms themselves have become an additional source of distress. I offer a genuine, safe, confidential and non-judgemental therapeutic space to enable you to explore whatever is troubling you, at your own pace.
Alongside my private practice I work as a locum psychotherapist for the NHS and also lecture in counselling, from introductory to postgraduate level. My wealth of experience in working across these different settings has led me to develop a unique and effective approach to my clinical practice - rooted in a robust, theoretical and ethical framework.
As an integrative therapist, my work is underpinned by Clarkson's Relational Model which focuses upon Person Centred, Psychodynamic and Transpersonal paradigms; I view the quality of the therapeutic relationship as being pivotal in determining the efficacy of therapy. This relationship is nurtured and developed with care and consistency, integrity and respect for your unique and personal journey.
I work with a range of issues including but not limited to depression, anxiety, generalised anxiety disorder, abuse, addiction, relationship breakdown, separation/divorce, family issues, low self esteem, stress, phobias, loss and bereavement. During our time together it is likely we will 'look back' over your life, to explore and understand not only your presenting issues but the origins of the relationship you have with yourself. This process aims to alleviate symptomatic distress whilst working on a deeper unconscious level to bring about meaningful healing and sustainable change.
Alongside one to one sessions, I have previously worked as a group psychotherapist, coordinating and developing treatment initiatives for the Priory Hospital Group. I also have many years experience working as a psychotherapist within palliative care - providing psychological support to patients and carers through treatment, terminal illness and bereavement. I have delivered a series of training workshops within the NHS, charity and corporate organisations covering many topics including the impact of long term health physical health conditions upon psychological wellbeing, stress management, risk assessment and suicide.
I encourage sessions to be scheduled weekly, however this is dependent upon your specific requirements - the number and frequency of sessions will be reviewed regularly. Counselling may be short or long term, and can be face-to-face, zoom or telephone.

Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
