About me

As a therapist, I currently work for the NHS and work in private practice. I specialise in Anxiety (GAD, Panic Disorder, OCD and Social Anxiety), Depression, Trauma, Addiction and Relationship Issues (Infidelity, Intimacy issues and compulsive sexual behaviour ). I am also LGBTQIA+ and Neurodiverse affirming. (Autistic and ADHD clients ) . I believe that therapy should be tailored specially for your individual needs - whether depression, anxiety, self-esteem or PTSD - and I provide a relaxed, safe space where you can feel free to share your issues confidentially and without judgement.

The most important part of therapy is the relationship between us and I like to work in a collaborative way, helping you learn more about yourself, your issues and developing strategies to manage them.

It can feel daunting sharing your problems, sometimes for the first time and it is important that you are in charge of the therapy and your recovery.

I offer short and long-term therapy and work integratively, which means I use more than one type of counselling. I also can work creatively if you feel this would be appropriate and can use creative techniques and mindfulness to ease anxiety or simply understand why you feel a certain way.

Neuroscience can also explain why we have panic attacks, why we don’t wish to talk to people, can't think straight or want to shut down and sleep all day. Using Polyvagal theory we can use techniques to explain your feelings and help ease them.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have a Level 4 Diploma in Integrative Therapeutic Counselling and have studied Trauma, Neuroscience, Polyvagal theory, CBT, CBT-I for insomnia and DBT.  I have also done training in cognitive stimulation therapy and rehabilitation.

I am currently working in NHS Counselling Services in Lambeth through the Awareness Centre and have also worked with children in schools.

My life experience is working with alcohol addiction, neuropathy, dementia, cancer and in high profile, high pressure environments with work-related stress.

I am also LGBTQIA+ and Neurodiverse affirming.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
