About me

Are you worried about your teenager or young adult, and not quite sure how to help?

Perhaps they’re struggling with anxiety, low mood, confidence, relationships, identity, education or the transition into adulthood. You may be watching someone you love have a difficult time and finding yourself carrying worry, helplessness or uncertainty about what to do next.

I offer counselling for teenagers and young adults (aged ~14 to 25), as well as a space for parents who need support in their own right. Sometimes your child needs somewhere to talk; sometimes you need somewhere to put down some of the weight you’ve been carrying.

My approach is warm, relational and integrative. I work collaboratively, helping young people make sense of what they’re experiencing, develop greater self-understanding and find ways forward that feel manageable and authentic to them.

And if your teenager or adult child isn’t ready for counselling, you can still come and talk to me. Supporting someone you love through a difficult period can be emotionally demanding too.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am a BACP Registered Counsellor and hold a Diploma in Higher Education in Counselling. I also hold a PGCE and have worked extensively in education as a teacher/lecturer and also as a counsellor. Alongside seeing private clients, I currently work part-time for a university counselling service.

I have undertaken additional specialist training to be able to counsel Children and Young People (CYP) and have regular CYP specialist supervision, ensuring that I provide the highest levels of care for your young person.

I also have additional training in Stress Management and Resilience from Harvard Medical School, whose approach I have found helpful for supporting parents balancing the competing demands of work, relationships, and family life.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Further information

I offer face-to-face counselling in Guildford town centre and Bloomsbury, London, as well as online sessions via Google Meet.

My central Guildford practice is intended to be accessible for people living and working in Guildford, including those who would prefer to come into town rather than travel to a clinic on the outskirts of the area.

I currently offer daytime appointments.

Getting started

I offer a free 15-minute introductory conversation so that you can get a sense of me, ask any questions, and decide whether I might be the right counsellor for you.

If we decide to work together, we begin with an initial paid assessment session before moving into regular counselling.

You don’t have to make a commitment to long-term therapy. We can talk about what you need and review our work as we go.

If you’re wondering whether therapy might be right for you, please feel welcome to get in touch.

Wheelchair user access
Wheelchair user access

Wheelchair-accessible premises should have step-free access for wheelchair users and individuals who are unable to climb stairs. If a Counsellor's premises aren't step-free, they may offer alternative services such as telephone/web-based appointments, home visits, or meeting clients in different location, so you can choose the option that suits you best.

You can contact the Counsellor to discuss the options available.

Under the Equality Act 2010 service providers have a duty to make reasonable adjustments to ensure that individuals with disabilities can access their service. You can read more about reasonable adjustments to help you to access services on the CAB website.

My counselling room in Guildford town centre is wheelchair accessible.
