About me

Hello, thank you for looking at my profile. Choosing a therapist can be a difficult and confusing task as there's a lot of choice out there. It's important you find the right fit for you.

I'd like to give you some idea as to what to expect from me:

Safe: I am fully qualified and insured and work to the ethical code of the BACP. All communications with me are confidential.

Competent: I have a solid training base and have been seeing clients for several years in various settings, both for long and short term therapy. In particular I have worked with depression, anxiety, addiction and relationship/family issues. I work with a focus on understanding how patterns established in childhood can affect a person in later life in ways that we may not be fully aware of, or may be difficult for us to think about. I treat each person as a unique individual and I will work hard to understand how things are from your point of view. There are many ways to live a happy life, our job is to find the way that works for you.

Understanding: it is normal to feel some nerves upon entering therapy. I understand how difficult it can be to come and speak to someone you don't know about a problem for the first time, especially if you fear being judged for it. I offer a non-judgemental space to talk freely about yourself to someone who can help you think about problems in a new way.

I offer a no-obligation introductory session where we can think together about your problem and whether we can work together. I see this session as a 'trial run' of a therapy session so you can see how it feels for you to be there and you'll be given plenty of time to talk about whatever is worrying you. You can also ask any questions you need to about what therapy involves before we make a decision about whether to continue.

I offer both short and long term therapy.

Please do contact me if you would like to discuss anything further. You can find more information about me and how I work on my website.

Member organisations

Registered / Accredited

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

UKCP
UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP)

The UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) is a leading professional body for the education, training and regulation of psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors. Its register is accredited by the government's Professional Standards Authority.

As part of its commitment to protect the public, it works to improve access to psychotherapy, to support and disseminate research, to improve standards and to respond effectively to complaints against its members.

UKCP standards cover the range of different psychotherapies. Registration is obtained by training or accrediting with one of its member organisations, or by holding a European Certificate in Psychotherapy. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
