About me

We all face challenges and life events that leave their mark on us, whether we realize it or not. These experiences, often referred to as trauma, aren’t just limited to catastrophic events like accidents or abuse. Trauma can stem from everyday life experiences—loss, betrayal, a change either sudden or planned, becoming a parent, adopting, or even the weight of balancing too many responsibilities. In fact, trauma can come from any situation where we feel burdened, misunderstood, or unsupported. It's part of being human.

The truth is, no one escapes life without some kind of event that shapes how we see the world, ourselves, and how we relate to others. These moments don’t just live in our memories—they influence the way we show up in the world every day. They affect the beliefs we hold about ourselves, and what we believe we deserve in life and create stress and tension in the body. Sometimes, we carry these unprocessed experiences without realizing just how much they affect us. Over time, these impacts can show up in many ways, such as:

  • Anxiety or depression that feels like an uninvited guest in your life
  • A constant fear of judgment or rejection from others
  • A tendency to hold back or avoid trusting those around you
  • Difficulty in making decisions or pushing yourself to take action
  • Fear of failure and of what others might think about you
  • Chronic feelings of inadequacy, guilt, or unworthiness
  • Struggling to relax or feeling like you don't deserve peace or feeling on edge all time
  • A need to please others or avoid conflict
  • Challenges in setting boundaries or expressing your own needs
  • Feeling stuck in old patterns or unable to break free from the past
  • Feeling like you must be or do everything perfect

If any of this resonates with you, I want you to know that you're not alone. We all carry something from the past that shapes the way we walk through life. It's not a sign of weakness or failure, but rather a part of the human experience. The good news is that healing is possible.

When we don’t take the time to process these life events, they continue to affect us in ways we might not fully understand. But there is hope. Therapy offers a space where we can explore these experiences together, with compassion and understanding. Through this process, we gain a deeper understanding of how the past has shaped our present and can begin to make lasting changes. Therapy isn't about "fixing" what's broken—it's about honouring your story, understanding how your past impacts your present, and finding a new path forward.

Healing is not an overnight process, but I believe it’s about the courage to start somewhere new and the willingness to believe that things can be different. You deserve to live with a sense of confidence, trust in yourself, and the ability to enjoy life, even when challenges arise.

If you're ready to explore what healing could look like for you, I invite you to reach out. We can meet for an initial consultation to get to know one another and discuss how we can work together to support your journey. I offer both in person and online therapy sessions, depending on what feels right for you.

With nearly 19 years of experience working with individuals and families in health and social care, I specialize in trauma-informed therapy and approaches like EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) to help you process life’s impactful moments. Together, we can begin to heal and move forward.

You can reach me at ramonaproti.counselling@gmail.com or 07735 508 726. I look forward to hearing from you.
