About me

Growing up, I learned early on to keep things to myself and carry on, even when something didn’t feel quite right. I got used to adapting to what others needed from me—and that way of being stayed with me for a long time.

In my own therapy journey, I came to see how much it can get lost when we push down feelings or always put others first. That understanding inspired me to become a therapist, so that I support others as they begin to reconnect with what feels true and real for them.

It may be tough—even scary at times—to tune into your own needs or emotions. Maybe you carry feelings that are hard to name—shame, sadness, anger—or feel weighed down by expectations, past experiences, or that quiet sense that something’s off.

Perhaps you also have spent a long time holding it all together for others or adapting so much that it’s hard to know what’s truly yours and this may have left you feeling unsure how to express what you really need or feel.

I have spent many years working closely with people affected by trauma, loss, neglect, or complicated family histories, including those impacted by adoption. These experiences often bring deep questions about identity, belonging, and self-worth. Having worked with many clients impacted by these experiences, I understand how confusing and isolating these feelings can be—and how healing begins when we feel truly heard and supported.

I’ve sat with adoptive parents who worried they’d never truly connect with their child and watched them discover a bond they didn’t think was possible. I’ve walked alongside adoptees who felt split between two worlds and seen them begin to feel more at home in themselves. I’ve worked with people who thought grief would never loosen its grip—only to hear them laugh again, set clearer boundaries, and move forward with renewed self-trust.

Therapy with me isn’t about tools or fixing—it’s about reconnecting with the parts of you that may have been buried or overlooked: your instincts, your voice, your inner strength, and your right to show up in the world as you are. Whether you prefer to meet online or in person in West London, our sessions will be led by what feels important to you. You don’t need to have the right words or a clear plan—just a feeling that it’s time to explore what’s been on your mind or under the surface. Sometimes the insights we uncover don’t land immediately; they might surprise you weeks later in the quiet moments of everyday life. And bit by bit, you’ll find yourself moving out of those places that felt impossible to leave behind.

Clients often find that their relationships—both at work and at home—start to shift as they build clearer boundaries and learn to protect their own well-being without guilt. They come away with a stronger sense of confidence, better clarity about what they need, and practical ways to handle life’s pressures without losing themselves.

I’d be glad to support you on your journey; feel free to get in touch. We can arrange a 15 min telephone call and meet for a 30 min initial consultation to explore what you need and how I can support you.

You can reach me at ramonaproti.counselling@gmail.com or 07735 508 726. I look forward to hearing from you.
