Integrative Therapeutic Counsellor (BACP Registered)

About me

Hello, my name is Rachel and I am an integrative therapeutic counsellor.

I welcome adults experiencing anxiety, depression, low mood, stress, relationship difficulties, life transitions, low self-esteem, or those simply wanting to understand themselves more deeply.

I am committed to providing an affirming, inclusive space that values difference and individuality, with a particular interest in neurodiversity (ADHD, Autism, Dyslexia, Dyspraxia) and LGBTQ+ experiences.

I believe that meaningful change begins within a safe, supportive, and authentic therapeutic relationship.

I have an integrative approach to therapy, drawing on different therapeutic theories to meet your individual needs.

Person-Centred therapy provides the foundation of my practice, creating a space where you feel heard, accepted, and valued.

Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) are collaborative approaches focusing on solutions rather than problems. Looking at behaviours and resources to achieve your future hopes and goals. Typically useful within short-term work or for someone who prefers goal-oriented thinking.

Psychodynamic ideas help us explore how past experiences may continue to influence your life today. By bringing hidden patterns into conscious awareness so you can unravel defence mechanisms, memories and current behaviours. It is typically delivered as an open-ended therapy for individuals experiencing recurring relationship patterns, low self-esteem, long-term depression or anxiety, and complex childhood experiences.

Gestalt therapy encourages awareness of your thoughts, feelings, and physical sensations in the present moment as a whole. This school of thought is helpful for individuals who feel "stuck" in their thoughts or disconnected from their bodies and emotions. It can be effective in processing unresolved relationship issues or past conflicts for people who prefer creative, active exploration.

Before training as a counsellor, I spent many years working in the hospitality industry, where I developed a genuine appreciation for the importance of listening, empathy, and understanding people from diverse backgrounds and life experiences. Whilst developing skills to manage and support in various often stressful and demanding situations. These values continue to shape the way I work with people in therapy today.

I aim to offer a warm, welcoming, and non-judgemental space where you can explore your thoughts, feelings, and experiences at your own pace.

Whether you are facing a specific challenge or seeking greater self-understanding, I will work alongside you with curiosity, creativity, compassion, and respect.

I currently offer therapy online or in person (SW London: Clapham/ Balham/ Tooting) for short-term (minimum 6 sessions) or long-term (open-ended). During a free initial 20-minute call, we can discuss which option would be best for you.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
