About me

Hello, my name is Rachel and I am an experienced counsellor working alongside individuals and couples. If you are ready to take that next step in coming to Counselling, there are some things you may wish to know of what to expect. This page will hopefully answer any questions or queries that you may have, but if you do need any further information, please do not hesitate to contact me.

To begin with, finding the right counsellor that you feel comfortable with is very important. With this in mind, I do offer all clients a free initial introduction, either by phone call or video chat. This is without obligation and it gives you the opportunity to decide if you would like to move forward with me as your counsellor. I offer counselling on a face-to-face basis and also online via Microsoft Teams. Your sessions with me are not time limited, so this will enable you to have as many sessions as you require and for your needs. Below are some of the services that I offer:

Individual Counselling:

We are all unique and although we experience things differently to everyone else, you are not alone! I accept you for who you are and and as you are, and offer an open space for exploration of your thoughts and feelings without judgement. I am experienced in counselling clients who might be feeling lost or ‘anchored’, struggling with past experiences, feelings of anxiety and/or depression, past relationship scars that may be encroaching on their new relationship and feeling a negative belief about themselves.

Counselling has the compelling ways in which it can help and possible ways you haven’t thought about. I often find, that once you have found that right counsellor for you, trust in the therapeutic relationship will only strengthen, and in those possible ways, you will find for yourself things you hadn’t released you was carrying. As your counsellor, I will empower you to discover your strength and resilience so that you can face your adversities, now and into your future. I will support you in developing a learning about yourself and a better understanding of how you relate to the world. I truly believe that this is the principal of permanent change in your life, allowing you to find a sense of peace, evenness, and direction - enabling you to live happier, healthier and fulfilled life. Some of the areas in which I can help with include; anxiety, depression, bereavement, emotional abuse, family issues, LGBTQIA+ counselling, low self-esteem / self-confidence, relationship difficulties, separation and divorce, stress, and trauma.

I appreciate that seeking Counselling can feel like taking a big step, as such, I offer a free initial phone call or video call, so we can ‘meet’ without any obligation. This will allow you to decide how you want to move forward and if I am the right counsellor for you. While I keep to the Person Centred Framework, I am an Integrative counsellor, which means that I will draw on various theories (Psychodynamic, Humanistic, Transactional Analysis and Cognitive Behavioural Therapies), based on what feels right for you. I am genuine, empathic and responsive to you and your needs in each session.

Couples Counselling:

I am an experienced couples counsellor, and I can help support couples who might be dealing with an affair, betrayal, conflict, stress and communication problems that can affect your relationship. Couples counselling can help in many ways that some couples wouldn’t think is possible and I have found that as the both of you work through the issues you are experiencing, your relationship to each other can make you realise different aspects about each other that you hadn’t previously recognised. It can also support your relationship to achieve a heightened sense of connection and understanding of each other.

As your counsellor I will empower you both and be that mediator in your relationship to uncover any adversities, identify strengths and help you both navigate any challenges with new tools and techniques and, to progress to a new perspective in your relationship to support you both in moving forward. I truly believe that taking this action and this change can allow you both to improve of your understanding of each other, allow each other a voice in the relationship and to better communicate with each other effectively and equally – enabling you both to a happier and healthier relationship.

Below are some of the other areas in which I can support and help a couple/individual understand:

Communication
Understanding destructive patterns
Divorce and/or separation
Relationship conflicts – increase in frequent or intensity of conflicts
Understanding your ‘love language’
Decline in your physical intimacy
Heal from previous relationship wounds
Resentments with the relationship
Relationship check-ins
Engagements

I respect that seeking a counsellor to support your relationship can feel quite daunting and intrusive, and therefore finding the right counsellor for you is vital. That being the case, I do offer a free introductory video call, which will allow you to make the choice of how you would like to move forward.

A relationship problem and/or crisis doesn’t always mean the end. It can, with the appropriate support, open a new understanding and a better way of being together. With this in mind, I am an integrative counsellor, and I will draw on different methods and theories, (Person Centred, Humanistic, Attachment Style and Love Language) which will be based on what will support you best.  I am honest, empathic, genuine, and responsive to your time in your journey and the sessions we have.
