About me

Hello and thank you for looking at my profile when there are so many of them out there!  I love counselling and have been qualified for 10 years.  During this time I have worked with serving police officers and civilian staff at Merseyside Police, those supported by the Victim Support Homicide Service, young people at a VI Form College and employees referred by an Occupational Health provider.  I’ve always worked across a range of issues including trauma, abuse, and bereavement.   ‘Extremely easy to talk to’….'turned things around for me’…. ’patient’….'kind’….'helped save my life’....being just some of the favourable feedback from clients.  In person and online appointments available.

So I wanted to tell you a little bit about me, but I’ll try to keep it brief.  I know that  being a counsellor is something that was always meant for me because I have an affinity with people and being able to be ‘with’ them.  My journey started with a basic counselling course, and this was the point at which I knew that my Civil Service days were limited because I realised very quickly that being a counsellor was my calling.  Drawing on this and my life experience has given me the perfect grounding to be the best that I can be in the counselling room with my clients.

We are all different as human beings, experiencing different emotions, feeling different pain, needing different things….'the shoe that fits one person pinches another’....and that’s what makes us unique.  I acknowledge that uniqueness and that’s why I work with you using an integrative approach - I bring in what it is I feel you need to flourish.  I think that’s really important, to feel comfortable in your own skin.  I provide a safe haven to listen to you without judgement.

I also offer Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT) - a gentle therapy which helps to reduce emotional distress by tapping on our own acupressure points.  It can do some amazing things to remove life-limiting barriers and change the way we look at things - maybe beliefs about ourselves that may be holding us back.  Perhaps we have all experienced that ‘imposter syndrome’ from time to time...

Sessions for either counselling or EFT last 50 minutes.  I offer a 15 minute introductory telephone call for you to decide whether you think I’m right for you.  I will always look forward to hearing from you.  Thanks for reading!

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
