About me
Welcome to my page, thank you for choosing to click on it.
Are you feeling stuck, anxious or low in some way? Struggling to comprehend certain life experiences, or wanting to understand yourself in more depth? I work with people to notice unhelpful patterns in life and explore ways to move forward.
I am a pluralistic practitioner, which means I was trained to adapt my approach to the person sat before me. I work with people aged 18+ on a wide range of issues that may be impacting them using different techniques pulled from CBT, Person Centred Therapy and other counselling modalities. Whilst the approach may differ depending on need, it is my aim to ensure everyone I work with feels heard and respected within the therapeutic relationship we establish together. This is a space where you can express yourself without judgement.
It can be very difficult to open up to someone new (as a previous client of therapy myself I remember this all too well!), however it can also be incredibly powerful.
If you feel we would be a good fit to work together, then please email me to arrange a free introductory call, or you can use the 'Book Intro Call' button above.
EMDR
Do you find certain memories or events still bother you? Do you experience strong emotions like fear, anger, shame or guilt linked to things that have happened in your life?
EMDR can be an effective therapy to help reprocess such memories and experiences so that they don't continue to cause so much distress.
Examples of situations EMDR might be able to help with are:
- Difficult experiences at work
- Traumatic experiences in life (for example a car crash, or being the victim of a crime)
- Difficult medical experiences
- Bullying
- Panic linked to past experiences
- PTSD
If you would be interested in this therapy then please get in touch to discuss further. Alternatively I've put more information about this approach on my website, you can access this via the link above.
Training, qualifications & experience
- Master's of Counselling (University of Queensland- 2017- 2019)
- Master's of Psychology (Conversion from University of Northumbria- 2022-2023)
- I have continued my professional development since then, through ongoing training in different areas (e.g. neurodiversity, trauma, grief)
Member organisations
school Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
Areas of counselling I deal with
Other areas of counselling I deal with
Whilst I've chosen options above, I don't necessarily think that having a tick box of difficulties is helpful, as each individual is unique. I would prefer to discuss your reasons for seeking counselling in our initial call to determine if I can be of assistance to you.
