Dr Rachel Megahy
I am a Clinical Psychologist offering individual assessment and treatment to adults with a wide range of difficulties. I am trained in a number of therapies including cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), interpersonal psychotherapy (IPT), eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) and CBT-E for eating disorders. I tend to work integratively, creating an individually tailored treatment plan to best meet your needs.
Training, qualifications & experience
I have a BSc (Hons) degree in Psychology and a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology, both from the University of Edinburgh. I am a Chartered Psychologist with the British Psychological Society which reflects the highest level of skill and expertise. I am also registered with the Health & Care Professions Council and IPT-UK. I offer supervision to psychologists and those training in, or practicing, IPT. I have over 18 years experience working within the NHS and specialise is treating eating disorders and post traumatic stress disorder.
Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
Health and Care Professions Council
The HCPC are an independent, UK-wide health regulator. They set standards of professional training, performance and conduct for 16 professions.
They keep a register of health professionals who meet their standards, and they take action if registered health professionals fall below those standards. They were created by a piece of legislation called the Health Professions Order 2001.
Registration means that a health professional meets national standards for their professional training, performance and conduct.
