About me

Sometimes all that is needed is someone to talk to who will listen without judgement.

No matter what you are facing I offer a safe space for all relationships, couples & individuals.

Maybe you have reached a point in your life where you no longer feel satisfied with the life you are living and are seeking a change but unsure how to make this happen.

As a person-centred counsellor, I am passionate in my belief that everyone has the right to be their true selves. I understand that on occasions this part of us can become buried & everyday life can feel overwhelming.

Accessing therapy can help you to overcome these challenging times that are affecting your mental health right now. I am here to listen to you without judgement or expectations, just allowing you to be you.

If you would like to see more about me, why not take a look at my website: Cinque Ports Counselling

For individuals, I offer a 20 - 30 minute free session allowing you to find out more about me and my practice. If you decide that I am a good fit for you and that you would like to book in some sessions you can choose how you would like your therapy to look ie: short-term therapy 6 - 12 weeks, or longer-term therapy 12 + weeks.

I see clients face to face but am also available via online platforms Zoom or Teams. Since COVID many clients have found online counselling offers greater flexibility when considering lifestyle commitments.

Training, qualifications & experience

Over the years  I have volunteered for a local hospice supporting those affected by Bereavement, Loss and Grief.

Previously I have volunteered with an agency supporting people affected  by the effects of both substance & alcohol use.

In my own practice I am qualified in relationship / couples therapy and offer a safe space where you can be heard. Being part of a relationship does not need to mean you can no longer be an individual. Occasionally these boundaries can become blurred.

I have also had extensive experience in helping individual's with a wide range of issues: Anxiety, Bereavement, Depression, Stress, Self-esteem, Self-harm, suicidal ideation, Sexual abuse, Trauma, Men's issues, Women's issues.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
