About me

Hello and welcome. Getting the right support is essential when life isn't going so well. Deciding to see a therapist is an important and courageous decision.

I am a BACP registered Counsellor and Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist and have been approved by several health insurance providers to support their clients. I have been helping individuals overcome their difficulties for eleven years and I am also a certified couples counsellor.

As someone who places the therapeutic relationship at the heart of my work, I value the level of trust it takes to be able to talk openly with someone you are unfamiliar with. My role is to support you by providing you with a safe, non-judgmental and confidential space to find a way forward.

I offer face to face therapy sessions at my South Manchester practice. I also provide telephone support from the comfort and convenience of your own home or workplace, ensuring that your personal therapy journey fits your lifestyle.

The values I hold at the core of my practice are trust, integrity and respect. Your capacity to feel accepted for who you are, validated for all that you are and understood are central to how I work.

I typically work within a person-centred framework and have the benefit of additional training to use Cognitive Behavioural Therapy should this approach feel more appropriate.

I work with all anxiety related issues, low mood, major life transitions, bereavement, relationship difficulties and low self-esteem.

When working with couples, I will encourage you and your partner to explore your relationship openly and honestly, by providing you both with a safe and confidential space within which to talk.

My role is that of facilitator so that I can enable you to identify and communicate your needs to each other more effectively, resolve conflict and to decide as a couple the most appropriate way forward.

Both my personal and professional philosophies come from a place of compassion. I believe that we all have the capacity to move beyond our obstacles and live a more rewarding life.

Trying to find the right therapist at an already stressful time can be challenging; because it's important that you feel comfortable with your choice, I offer all new clients a FREE 15 minute telephone consultation to discuss what you are looking to resolve.

This will give you the opportunity to ask any questions about how I work and for me to determine how best to support you.

Training, qualifications & experience

I hold a Post Graduate Diploma in CBP, awarded from the University of Salford with distinction, a BACP Accredited Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling (Level Five) and a Certificate in Couples and Relationship Counselling.

I have worked across the North West for several community-based mental health organisations, and within both primary and secondary care settings for the NHS.

Working privately gives me the privilege of being able to focus more on the individual needs of my clients rather than those of a large organisation. When I work with you, my aim is to help you get the most from every session.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
