About me
Dr Philip Murphy (B.Sc., Ph.D., Dip.Clin.Psy., C.Psychol., A.F.B.Ps.S) - Consultant Clinical Psychologist. During my 34 year career I have developed experience in many therapeutic approaches. Using this experience, we can work together to help you understand and overcome the social and emotional difficulties in your life.
Embarking on personal therapy can sometimes seem daunting, But generally my clients settle comfortably into our pleasant relaxed setting, and usually find it surprisingly easy to share their thoughts.
My treatment approach in therapy is solution focussed. Through relaxed conversation, you will be able share the emotional difficulties you would like to address. Then together we will build a plan to try to reach these goals.
Things may seem difficult for you at the moment. But I will support you in facing and understanding the practical, psychological and emotional obstacles you are living with. Through this process, we can work towards overcoming your challenges, resolving your difficulties, and finding the way forward towards a happier life.
Training, qualifications & experience
I have completed 9 years full time study including a degree+postgraduate psychology training, followed by a Postgraduate Diploma in Clinical Psychology
Following this training, I have worked for over 34 years in the NHS and Private Practice as a Consultant Clinical Psychologist. During this time I have helped many adults and couples with a wide range of emotional and social difficulties. I am registered with the HCPC & NCPS as a counsellor, psychotherapist & psychologist.
I have extensive experience in working with OCD, depression, anxiety, marital problems, trauma, sleep, anger, and a wide range of other social and emotional difficulties. During our first session we can fully explore the issues you want help with. Then work towards overcoming these problems. Most of my clients settle quickly into therapy, and begin to see improvements within the first few weeks.
