About me
Hi
I am an experienced psychodynamic counsellor and I work in both the private and charity sectors. I am a registered member of the British Psychoanalytic Council (BPC) and I have also practised as a community pharmacist.
I now provide psychodynamic counselling online (Zoom, Teams, WhatsApp and telephone). My fee for online counselling is £45.00 per 50 minutes session.
I provide a professional, confidential and non-judgemental service, a space where your thoughts and feelings can be brought, shared and explored. This is a place for you to be heard and we will work collaboratively to uncover and understand what lies at the root of your difficulties. We may bring into question and re-evaluate some of your long standing assumptions, assumptions about yourself and about other people.
I work with people who seek counselling because of:-
Self-esteem
Anxiety and Depression
Anger and Relationship Difficulties
Addictions
During the first counselling session I always like to hear about the problems that you are currently experiencing and about some your memories both old and new. In the sessions that follow we work with and explore what feels important or significant to you in that moment. Everything is helpful as we learn and make sense of things!
We are all capable (consciously or unconsciously) of holding on to negative feelings such as shame, doubt, guilt and resentment in relation to past experience. Sometimes we need help and support to untangle ourselves from overwhelming and unprocessed experiences. We need to start to see the wood for the trees!
Becoming aware of our blind-spots during therapy sessions changes how we feel about ourselves and how we relate to others. This is due to a growth in self-awareness. This is the work of therapy, to enhance self-knowledge and self-understanding, to find a new way to live and to be without ever losing sight of ourselves.
Your past does not define you!

Member organisations
school Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
The British Psychoanalytic Council (BPC) is a professional association, representing the profession of psychoanalytic psychotherapy.
The organisation is itself made up of fourteen member organisations and BPC accredits the trainings of its member organisations. An individual who qualifies from one of these trainings is then eligible for entry into the BPC's register.
BPC registrants are governed by a code of ethics, a policy of continuing professional development, a statement on confidentiality and a complaints procedure. The BPC is a Member Society of the European Federation for Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy in the Public Sector (EFPP). Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Further information
Our blind spots can cause us to repetitively interpret situations in a biased way. They significantly affect how we relate to other people. Effectively they restrict our range of options in relationships and in this way often lead to a sense of being stuck.
Below is an analogy that illustrates how emotions such as anxiety, anger, despair and depression can come about when old templates or old points of reference are being used as a guide.
Imagine navigating around Britain today using a 1950's or even a 1970's road map for reference. You are referring to an out of date map for guidance so consequently the presenting reality of the road network will seem alarming and confusing to you. Some routes indicated on your map will no longer exist. Unexpected routes will present! This disorientating and alarming experience could undoubtedly activate a wide range of distressing emotions. The following are some of the emotions that I think could be experienced: confusion, panic, fear, insecurity, anger and frustration.
It is important to know when to set aside our old out of date references in order to become free to engage authentically and constructively in the present.
Counselling changes lives!
