About me

I have face to face spaces available on a Tuesday morning in central Farnham. If you require on-line, please email me for availability. As I am new to the area, I am offering a concessionary fee until the end of April, please contact me for further details.

Hi, my name is Pauline and I am a qualified counsellor and registered member of the BACP (British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy).  I am naturally warm, empathetic.  I can provide you with a confidential, safe and non-judgemental space to talk through whatever is troubling you in your life.

I have my own experience of mental health issues and know the impact it can have on all areas of life including physical health.  It wasn't until I went to counselling myself that I learned that it is ok not to be ok - all those times when I'd replied "I'm ok" to that age old question, "how are you?" When really there were times I was barely functioning, but I'd put on a mask and carry on.

In the counselling relationship, it is a relationship of equals built on trust. Together, we can walk through what is troubling you but I will stay grounded, helping you work through what is troubling you.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am a fully qualified counsellor and adhere to the BACP code of ethics. My approach as a therapist is flexible depending on what you would like from therapy. I work in an integrative way which means that I incorporate different models of therapy, depending on who I am working with and what they are looking for.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
