About me
Hello and welcome!
Having taken the courageous step of seeking help with whatever is troubling you, it is obviously important that you find a counsellor who is the right fit for you.
I have a real passion for my work and take great joy in witnessing the transformation that counselling can provide. I have a warm and compassionate personality, and would meet you with acceptance and a genuine desire to understand and explore exactly what it is that you are going through. I know from personal experience how vulnerable it can make us feel when we share our innermost thoughts and worries, and I take great care in creating an atmosphere that feels safe and supportive.
As a person-centred counsellor I hold the belief that the key to a happy and fulfilling life is to live authentically as our true selves, and often a central part of the counselling process is to explore the things that get in the way of us being able to do this. Whilst I fundamentally adopt a person-centred approach, I draw from a range of other therapeutic models, depending on your individual circumstances.
With over twenty years' experience working therapeutically in the field of mental health, including my time as a fully qualified mental health social worker, I have worked with people on a broad range of issues. I have had specialist roles in the areas of addiction and bereavement, and I also have a particular interest in supporting individuals with issues relating to anxiety and depression, past trauma, and with building confidence and self-esteem.

Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
